Recent workplace research from Gallup showed some concerning insights for organizations. While most CEOs are laser-focused on growing the business and increasing profits, this research shows that it’s most often the things that CEOs take for granted that end up hurting them the most.
Over the next month, I’m going to break down these 6 statistics (problems) and then prescribe the solutions for how to make sure your organization doesn’t fall victim to these numbers.
Statistic (Problem) #1: Only 22% of employees strongly agree their leaders have a clear direction for their organization.
In addition to this concerning statistic, Gallup added that “only 15% of employees strongly agree the leadership of their organization makes them feel enthusiastic about the future.”
Whenever I work with an organization, the first thing I address is their vision. Every organization needs a compelling vision that the leaders are passionately drawn to themselves. With this in place, you will not only begin to attract the right employees, but you’ll have better retention.
Your employees want to be a part of something big that your organization is building; they want to feel a part of what it is the company is trying to accomplish in the world. They want to admire what you stand for and hold the same passion about the future of the organization that you do. Your vision of the future is like a magnet, it compels the right people toward you and repels the wrong people away from you. By having a clear, compelling vision in place and communicating and reinforcing it on a constant basis, your employees will naturally become more enthusiastic and productive and drawn to the meaning behind the work of your organization.
